Back from Budapest, Father Arno continues his investigation. He meets Professor Kruger, a former colleague of Martha Calugarul, and Maria, who now replaces Martha at the dispensary. Father Arno receives new clues but is no closer to solving the mystery. Later, Stephan Luca, the journalist who discussed vampires with Father Arno, is found dead in his room at the inn. It is now obvious that dark forces are at work.

As those events are linked to his arrival in town, Father Arno's presence is no longer welcome by the local townspeople. Continuing his mission, Father Arno decides to follow the mysterious "Path of the Dragon", which leads him to Turkey. After investigating in old Turkish prisons, Father Arno understands in his dreams that he has accomplished the first trials. He is on "the Path". Back in Vladoviste, Father Arno meets Irina Boczow to explain his projects. Conscious that "the Path of the Dragon" is very risky, Irina asks Father Arno to come and meet her again in Budapest to help him prepare this tough task. But when he arrives, Father Arno discovers Irina's dead body...

Voltar a partir de Budapeste, o Padre Arno continua sua investigação. Ele conhece o professor Kruger, um ex-colega de Martha Calugarul, e Maria, que agora substitui Martha no dispensário. Padre Arno recebe novas pistas, mas não está perto de resolver o mistério. Mais tarde, Stephan Luca, o jornalista que discutiu os vampiros com o Padre Arno, é encontrado morto em seu quarto na pousada. É agora óbvio que as forças das trevas estão no trabalho.

Como esses eventos estão ligados à sua chegada na cidade, a presença de Padre Arno já não é bem-vinda pela população local. Prosseguindo a sua missão, o Padre Arno decide seguir o "Caminho do Dragão" misterioso, que o leva a Turquia. Depois de investigar em antigas prisões turcas, o Padre Arno compreende em seu sonho que ele realizou os primeiros testes. Ele está em "Caminho". De volta ao Vladoviste, padre Arno atende Irina Boczow para explicar seus projetos. Consciente de que "o Caminho do Dragão" é muito arriscado, Irina pede Padre Arno para vir conhecê-la novamente em Budapeste, para ajudá-lo a preparar esta tarefa difícil. Mas quando ele chega, o Padre Arno descobre o corpo morto de Irina ...
